I can't teach talent – students come with that. I can teach them how to hone that talent and make the best of it. I can steer them to other novels that they can study and learn from. I can teach them to recognize their strengths and weaknesses. I can point out the mistakes they are making that they are too close to their own work to see. I can guide them towards writing the best books they are capable of writing. and I can teach them how to edit their work effectively.
