I simply go to the next story. Inevitably, the moment I start working on a new story, the characters from the previous story will start whispering in my ear, seducing me to stop playing with my new characters and to come back to them.
Also, I read! Whenever I read, my mind always wants to write. Call it jealousy or whatever, but the ideas seem to spark when I'm reading a great book that someone else wrote.
