John G. Stackhouse Jr.:
I have another question regarding Partners in Christ.... What is your conclusion regarding complementarians? Do you believe that they are using an acceptable way to interpret scripture regarding women? Thank you, Maria
John G. Stackhouse Jr.
My approach in this book is to take seriously the theological claims of complementarians. I believe many of them today, as in the history of the church, to be godly and intelligent people doing their best to understand the complex data of gender. And I believe many of them are following good theological methods to their conclusions.
I do think, however, that the method I recommend in the book is better than the complementarian--and egalitarian!--methods I have encountered before, and thus the argument is better, too. That's why I bothered to write this book!

Hi John, I read Finally Feminist and now I am reading Partners in Christ....I don't know if it is a language barrier, but I do not clearly understand the Methodology you propose. Is there a blog where you summarize it or the specific chapter of the book that delineates it. Also, your Theory is that Men and women are equal with exception to the biology? Thank you!

Hi John, In the book you have mention that there are times that even when you believe in a non-heriarchical way (equality) you are unable to leave you current situation (stay in a church that believes differently) because you know you are called in that place. Even more, if you are part of the leadership of that Church and are expected to teach and support the hierarchy (patriarchy), How have you handled this?
