I was thinking... One of my favorite parts of keeper 1 was the splotching match. If I remember correctly it was an annual thing which means there should be a splotching match this year at foxfire..... Is there going to be one in book 5? Or was that something you just did in book one to say that Sophie can do a brain push?

Well, as I keep saying over and over, I definitely can't give spoilers. But from a technical standpoint, yes, anything that I've established as an annual tradition would at least be mentioned again when the time rolled around (or I'd try to anyway, there are a LOT of details to keep straight and sometimes I mess things up or forget stuff).
The tricky thing is though, I don't cover every single moment of every single day (that would get boring super quick) so it could be something covered in a single sentence, rather than becoming a long, involved scene. Scenes only end up in the book when they further the plot (I also try super hard not to write scenes that feel like repeats of ones I've already done, so if I have to do something again, I have to add something new to it). Which applies not just to the splotching matches, but to everything in the early books.
One other important thing to keep in mind: if you've read Neverseen, you'd know that Sophie and her friends spend quite a lot of time NOT at Foxfire, while Foxfire was still going on as normal. So it's also highly possible they missed it for the year

Hi! I've always been so interested in being an author and I just wondered what inspired you to be one and when. You have been a huge inspiration to me and I LOVE your books so much (especially the Keeper of Lost Cities). Also, where do you usually find inspiration for your ideas? (e.g. songs, real life experiences, current news, or does it just come to you?) Thanks for being AWESOME and I'm so EXCITED for book 5! :)

I'm writing a book right now and I read over it and it seems to be missing something. It then occurred to me that it has no mood. My book is for middle grade readers and it is a fantasy but it wasn't stimulating to read. I then thought of books that were stimulating to read and one of them was Keeper of the Lost cities so I thought I'd ask you the following question; How do you make a book interesting?
