Shruti asked Shannon Messenger:

Two questions. One, do elves come from all over the world? I mean, are there British elves, or Russian elves, or something like that? Two, where did you get your inspiration for Keeper?

Shannon Messenger Well, your first question is a little tricky, because the answer is yes AND no. The thing is, I do imagine the elves living all over the world in their scattered cities and houses. I also picture them looking hugely diverse (all different skin tones and body shapes and whatnot). BUT, they're also elves. And the elves keep themselves completely separate from humans (in fact, most elves don't even like humans). So there wouldn't be such a thing as a "British" elf or a "Russian" elf or an "American" elf or any of the other human political or cultural distinctions. They have their own world (the Lost Cities) their own government/political system (the Council) and their own culture (elvin).

And I get my inspiration from everywhere. Really. I never know when I'll see something that might give me a new idea.
