Just finished the first KEEPER book! I loved how when Sophie asks how long elves live, the answer is "we don't know." So original! But wouldn't the world become overpopulated? Because clearly they do have a lot of kids. I was surprised Sophie didn't ask about this. How does it work?

Shannon Messenger I'm pretty sure I cover this in bits and pieces in the different books, but covering it quickly here: for one thing, this planet has a LOT of empty space. Way more than some people realize. And while some would argue that a lot of that land is uninhabitable, that's not a problem for elves. They can make anything inhabitable with the help of the gnomes and dwarves (even a Sanctuary inside the hollowed out Himalayas and prison in the center of the earth) They also aren't a species that has a lot of children. Most families tend to only have one kid--and more than 2-3 is very rare. So their population grows very slow--but even if that were to change, there is no shortage of places for them to make into their homes.
