I see that Karen's name was a shoutout to Last Final Girl, but was her and Dr Navidson's names also both shoutouts to House of Leaves? PS Listening to Poe's Haunted album totally works while reading your book too. As does, strangely, Matt Beringer's side project, El Vey.

Karen was a shot out to the real Karen Brissette who is one of the more popular reviewers on Goodreads. The Last Final Girl is reference to a novel by Stephen Graham Jones (good friend and writer, his name appears in my book elsewhere as a character). And yeah, Navidson is definitely a reference to HOUSE, one of my all-time favorite books. So cool that you listed to Haunted while reading!

Paul, I want to know what you think of the horror writers I’m reading right now. They are Brian Keene, Richard Laymon, and Jack Ketchum. I love Urban Gothic by Keene; The Cellar by Laymon; and Ketchum’s Off Season and its sequel Offspring. Do you like those 3? How about any of those books specifically? I would love to know what you think. Did they influence you at all? I still LOVE Head Full of Ghosts!

Dude. I'm not obsessed with you. It just seems that way because this is the third question I've asked. But, if we were hanging out and having coffee or a beer I'd been asking you a lot more questions. So three really isn't that many and certainty doesn't connote obsessions (me thinketh the lady bullshit aside...) So question: What? You don't have a uvula? Are you sure? Because that seems kinda odd.
