Reconstructing Amelia is such a unique story. The way you told it left us guessing at every turn and waiting anxiously to find out what really happened and why. How did you come up with this story? Did it come to you all at once or did you have to think about it and go back and forth on how to handle the story?

Kimberly McCreight Hi Liz,

Thanks so much for the compliment and the question. The overarching arc to the story came to me all at one, but the details of the mystery came over time. I always knew the ending--and had certain strictures in mind--but not necessarily all the details about how I'd get from point A to point B--some of those ended up being a surprise--which, for me, is the most fun about being a writer.
