Annie Quinn asked Jacqueline Winspear:

I must begin by thanking you for a wonderful series. I look forward to each book and the adventures of Maisie Dobbs. I have a two part question. I would love to know the importance of the library in your childhood. And I would like to know if you always knew you wanted to be a writer? Thank you again for being such a fabulous writer....YOU make a difference. Enjoy the Moments

Jacqueline Winspear Annie, the library was really, really important to me as a child - as I mentioned in a previous response, I had my first library card at 2 years of age. I knew I wanted to be a writer from the age of about 5 - but it took another 30 years for me to embark upon becoming a professional writer - mainly of essays and articles, written in the evenings and weekends because like most writers, I had a day job. Then I began to write my first novel at the age of 45. And thank you for your lovely comments about my work - I do appreciate it.
