A Goodreads user asked Lance Morcan:

Lance, how long on average does it take you to do research for a book and where do you do the research? Internet, books, talking to people via email? I've introduced some of my friends in a book group on MeWe to a few of your books and they asked me this. Obviously I don't know but promised I would both of you. This pertains specifically to _Into the Americas_ and I have asked James as well. Love the book, BTW.

Lance Morcan Hi Ila - Apologies for the delay in answering. Your query has only just shown up at this end!
To answer your question, research for our books (especially the novels) can take a loooong time... For example, our upcoming crime-thriller Silent Fear has entailed a decade's research.
Thanks for your ongoing support for our writing.
Best, Lance
