Los libros de Jean
Los libros de Jean asked Ruta Sepetys:

Hola Ruta! I have read twice Between shades of gray (In Spanish: "Entre tonos de gris"). I was amazed by Lina´s and her mother's strength. Thank you for this strong, moving and unforgettable story. Thank you for opening our eyes to this other holocaust. In your research, did you travel to Trofimovsk, Lina´s final destination? For what is known, was a real diary or capusule ever found? Greetings from Monterrey, México.

Ruta Sepetys Hola Jean!

Thank you for reading the Spanish edition of "Between Shades of Gray!" I hope all is well in Mexico!

During my research, I was not able to travel to Trofimovsk. I interviewed survivors who had been exiled there and also read the diary of Dalia Grinkeviciute who was sent to the Laptev Sea. I then built the novel based around their testimonies.

Yes, there were many diaries and buried capsules found! They are now in museums in Lithuania.

Thanks for asking!
