A Goodreads user asked Nenia Campbell:

Nenia, during emotional scenes in books, I don't feel like crying. How do I make myself feel the character??

Nenia Campbell Hi, Mihira! I don't usually cry when I read books either. I can count the ones that have made me cry on one hand, actually! I think it's just a matter of how much you connect to the characters. Some books are just written really well, with excellent characters you connect to on an emotional level. You become invested in them & care about them & feel bad when they die or suffer. It's simply a matter of finding the book that does this for you!
