Tori asked Sarah Fine:

I'm late to the game, but LOVE the Shadowlands and Fates series! Well...I love all your books so far. You have a unique way of making the characters so real that I ache and cheer for them. I can't wait to see what comes next, but I have one gap having just finished Stories from the Shadowlands. What about Jim?

Sarah Fine I'm so happy that you're enjoying my books, Victoria! And I'm honored that my characters have stuck with you. Jim is definitely a character whose fate I left somewhat vague, but I will tell you how I've always thought about it:

SPOILER AHEAD: At the end of Fractured, I felt that Jim wasn't yet finished with his journey toward redemption, and that it would be too easy to give him a happily ever after at that point--and if you've read the short story about him in Stories from the Shadowlands, you can probably see why. So after his death at the end of Fractured, he would have needed to do his time in the Blinding City, and he would have ultimately succeeded using some of the inner resources he'd gained during the time he spent in the land of the living. Ultimately, I do think he would have ended up back in the Countryside, but with more of a sense of peace and contentment for having experienced all the things he had.

I hope that answers your question!
