May Taher asked Kamal Ravikant:

Hi Kamal, I read your book "Love yourself like your life depends on it" and felt really inspired at first but then I tried doing what you said and I felt like I was straight out lying to myself. I tried saying I love myself over and over but just haven't really believed myself. It feels so unnatural to me. In your book you advise to keep saying it until it feels real so my question is, is it only a matter of time ?

Kamal Ravikant Hi May, thank you for reading the book. Regarding your question, when I first started the practice, I didn't believe that I loved myself. Which is why I so needed to do it. Try this: when you do the mental loop, make yourself feel the love for yourself. Even for a few seconds. We manufacture our emotions. The more you do it, the more you'll experience that you're in control of your emotions.

Short answer: like any new behavior, it takes committed practice and time. Yes, please continue to do it. And add feeling and emotion to it. That will deepen the grooves faster than anything.

I hope that helps.

Kamal
