Are the towns that your books set in, totally fictionally or based on a place that you visit yourself or a combination of the two?

Brenda Novak They are often based on towns I've visited. For instance, Whiskey Creek is sort of a combination between Sutter Creek and Jackson (not far from where I live). Silver Springs, my new series coming out next year, is loosely based on Ojai (about 90 minutes north of LA). But Dundee, Idaho is just something I completely dreamed up and wasn't based on any specific town. Same with Hilltop, Alaska (for the Evelyn Talbot series that's just starting).

Hi, Brenda!! As you already know, I absolutely LOVE your books! My question is - where do you find the inspiration for so many characters? Are they pulled from people you know, movies/books, the news? Your characters are so well-defined in your books that I have often wondered this while reading them.
