Goodreads asked Jeff Bailey:

How do you get inspired to write?

Jeff Bailey I'm inspired, every day, by stories derived from my 45 year resume in nuclear related industries. My first job, at .U.S. Army. I recently retired from a science and engineering staff position at a national laboratory. I have no ends of nuclear related stories.
I take the seed of stories from every day news. The story seed for The Defect was the meltdown accident at Three Mile Island Nuclear Power Station. Is everyone sure that it was an accident. A hooded gunman, armed with a gun, did attack the Watts Barr. Nuclear Power Station. Everyone knows the public story behind my books. I tell the back story of how terrorist committed the acts of sabotage. None of what I write every happened
