The magical community in your books seems to be all in England or Europe in general. Are there other mage establishments in, say, the United States? or Africa? If so, Why don't they interact more with the Brit-Mages? FYI, I've only read through 'Taken' so I may be in the dark about things revealed in your later books.

Benedict Jacka There are mage establishments in every country, and they do interact with the mages from Britain – it's just that they mostly don't interact with Alex. There are a variety of reasons for this, but the biggest one is that (especially at the beginning of the books) Alex isn't really important enough. It's a big world out there.

I rewrote this question a bunch of times but how do you feel about the idea of copying/inspiration? I find a lot of readers are quick to call a copy when it's not really justified but I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't admit to doing the same. As a budding writer it's one of my biggest fears but I'd like to know your opinion? Especially the opinion of my favourite authors.
