I don't think that's the secret, but small towns are what I know best. Grew up in one, moved back home years later. ON SECOND THOUGHT is set partially in Brooklyn, which is my favorite part of NYC these days, so I don't think it has to do with where you are...more who you've become. Small towns create challenges in that everyone knows everyone's business, and they have expectations of who you are based on that one food fight you had in third grade and the like, or who you parents were, or if you're somebody's sister. I love those bits of a story, so I guess that's why I write them. Cambry On Hudson is a little bit bigger than a small town, and it's close to NYC, so there's a slightly different vibe there. A little more sophistication, maybe.

I have really enjoyed your Blue Heron series. When you started the series, did you have a certain number of books in mind, and therefore have the set number of couple characters established? The first time Connor's character was introduce, did you know he would have his own story? Do find writing a male pov main character a challenge?
