Are there any books you would recommend for someone who wanted to further explore traditional Russian folklore?

Katherine Arden I would definitely try the folk tales of Aleksandr Afanasyev and the fairy tales (really the collected works) of Aleksandr Pushkin. Maybe also try Nikolai Gogol's Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka and Viy. When I was doing my research, I also benefited from Russian Folk Belief, by Linda Ivanits, and The Bathhouse at Midnight by W.F Ryan

i really enjoyed the bear and the nightingale but i have a question for you or anyone familiar enough with Russian. how is Olya a nickname for Olga? its the same name except one letter is changed so it isnt even a diminutive....

I originally thought the Bear and the Nightingale was a stand-alone book. Did you plan for it to be a trilogy? Or did that happen after its success? I'm so thrilled that there will be another one coming out soon!
