Jonathan Janz Why, hello, Goodreads Auto Question Creator! Since I'm in the mood, I'll give you my favorite couple, even if they aren't an actual couple:

Hap Collins and Leonard Pine.

That's right. Joe R. Lansdale's crime-fighting duo bicker like an old married couple, flub things as often as they get them right, and generally make a mess wherever they go.

But man, they're entertaining while they do it.

Lansdale's a genre unto himself, and the Hap & Leonard books have become the perfect vehicle for his uncanny blend of stiletto-sharp observation and gut-ripping humor. As a bonus, it just so happens that Lansdale can actually fight--he's like a sixty-third degree black belt or something, the kind of belt that's darker than the inside of an armadillo's rectum, not that I'd know firsthand--and this actual ability to beat someone to a pulp informs his brawls with a veracity unmatched in popular fiction.

Add to this insane brew the fact that we genuinely love these two sad sacks, and what you have is one of the best book series I've ever read.
