Goodreads asked Joyce Shaughnessy:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Joyce Shaughnessy I've always said that I just sit down in front of the computer and started writing anything. It didn't have to be about my book at all - just anything to get something on the page. It inspires me to keep writing, and usually helps me. However, my latest book has been harder for me to write because it's totally different than anything I've ever written. It's about a woman who murders her abusive husband and escapes into new identities. I truly understand writer's block more. This time, I just sat motionless in front of the computer and then had to walk away until I thought of something new.
It's tough to deal with.
