Goodreads asked Andrew Buckley:

Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

Andrew Buckley That's a tough one . . . I have a few . . .

Arthur Dent and Trillion in Hitchhiker's Guide the Galaxy even though they're doomed for certain failure :) But their dynamic is such a common relationship trope that it's enjoyable (he loves her, she's really not into it) because it's in space!

The Vampire Lestat and Louis throughout the Vampire Chronicles. The kinship and adoration that began with such conflict but grew into eternal companionship has a unique sort of beauty to it.

The relationship between Clarice Starling and Hannibal Lecter in the books is amazing, but I think they actually beat it in the TV show Hannibal with the relationship between Will Graham and Hannibal. Their admiration for each other is spellbinding, particularly in the show finale.

My favourite though is a little on the lame and mushy side. It's Wesley and Buttercup from the Princess Bride by William Goldman. I know, I know. It's a kissing book! But I've always loved that book and the film that followed. It's the story of wuv! Twu wuv! Wesley would do anything to save Buttercup and she loves him in return with such a passion that she became dead inside when she though him dead. You can't get anymore pure than that ;)
