Tracy (notrace) Denny wrote: "What's it like in Vancouver? Do you like it?"

It's great, mild weather (rarely dips below freezing) and beautiful scenery. Mountains and the ocean plus lots of local lakes all within an hours drive. I left once when I was young and wont do it again.

We once took a little trip up to B.C. for half a day, and I absolutely loved it! I'd definitely go back someday. I wish we could have made a weekend of it, or something..

You call that a small town? The town where I grew up has a population of 800. Just about everyone is on welfare and a lot of people are unemployed. The only interesting things that happen there are the county fair, a hot rod show, and the fact that people have the tendency to drive through the front wall of the Dollar General.

I still work in that town, but I currently live in a much larger (population 5,000) town to the south.

I live in Ohio, and I honestly have no idea how they manage to drive through the front (brick) wall of that building because the sidewalk out front is about 8 inches off the ground and should be a decent block for runaway vehicles. I don't know if alcohol is a factor or not!

Janie Johnson Dustin I have lived here 16 years this coming October and I still have not seen all there is to see. LOL Texas is such a big place! I did see the Kennedy memorial in the 2nd year I was here. Have been to Corpus and seen the Gulf, been to San Antonio and have seen the Alamo, and the River walk. I have seen the Natural Bridge Caverns. Still have yet to go to the Texas State fair though. LOL One of these years we will, maybe even this year. I guess I sohuld plan on that one.

message 45: by Rosalie (new)

Rosalie Turner We divide our time - summer & fall in the mountains of northern New Mexico at Angel Fire and winter and spring in Birmingham, Alabama - both are beautiful places. We are so lucky!

message 46: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 60 comments I'm in the Northern part of Palm Beach County, Florida. A lot of humidity here usually and some rain from time to time. Not much as far as seasons ... just generally hot and nasty. We get nice chilly spells from time to time but those can be rare.

message 47: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) I'm from a small Ohio town, about 15 minutes east of Kent State Uni, and a half hour west of Youngstown. Sort of right in the middle between Y-town and Akron. It's a rural area mostly, lots of farms (though not so many of the humongous ones like you see farther south in OH), houses spread out, except for in all the new developments that keep popping up in the fields some farms have sold off, in those developments it looks like TV suburbia or something, all cookie-cutter and new. I don't know the population, the town about 10mins up the road I grew up in and went to school and worked in says 2000 census found 7100 some people. I know my graduating class was about 100 kids. But I live in a smaller township at the moment, roughly about a pop. of 2700 people. We got a gas station, a post office, and a bar. I like how it's quiet, lots of open land and woods and stuff, and it's close to many, many places with parks and hiking trails. We've got three state parks within a 10 minute drive, and two more just a little bit farther. Shopping and things to do aren't too far away either. I just am not so fond of it because I've been dying to get out of Ohio ever since I can remember. I want to go someplace warm, where I can make day-trips to the ocean and spend most of my time outside instead of hiding from the cold in the winter. :)

message 50: by J.S. (new)

J.S. Bailey (jsbailey) In Cincinnati, we eat food that nobody else eats. I love posting statuses about how I'm having goetta for lunch and all of my out-of-state friends are like, "What in the blazes is THAT?"

And our chili kicks butt. The two primary brands are Skyline and Gold Star. You can put it on hot dogs or spaghetti noodles, or you can make Skyline dip by spreading a package of cream cheese in the bottom of a glass baking dish, pouring a can of chili over it, and topping it with shredded cheese. You put it in the oven until the cheese melts on top and then you eat it with tortilla chips.

I've just made myself hungry.
