Who would you like to see on the Iron Throne in the end?

***THIS THREAD CONTAINS SPOILERS***

Word of God says that by the end of ASOIAF, a few more people will have sat on the throne, and George does have an idea for who will end up on it at the very end! Personally I hope to see Asha or Stannis up there (veeery wishful thinking for Asha, I know), and Sansa or Margaery too :)

But then, you can't ignore the fantasy plot - the wall coming down (literally or metaphorically), the white walkers, the dragons and the impending massive war... so even if someone does end up on the throne, will they have anyone left to rule?

I'd like to see Daenerys on the throne - an older and wiser Daenerys, of course, but she has two more books to do some growing up in. Dany on the Iron Throne with Tyrion as her Hand would be a perfect combination. She has the bloodline, the empathy and the personal charisma to be a good monarch, and he has the smarts and pragmatism to be a very good advisor.

But of course, this is GRRM, so it's unlikely that such a positive outcome will ever come about. I doubt that Dany's life is in any danger (in meta terms, not in-story), but Tyrion might not make it to the end alive.

I don't know why people think Jon would ever be king. Even if he does turn out to be Rhaegar's son (certainly possible), it's highly unlikely he would want to be the king. His story is tied to the Night's Watch and the Others - there is no doubt he will be instrumental in the fight against the Others, but it's a big stretch to assume that he would break his vows and take the Iron Throne instead. After all, he even refused Stannis's offer of being the Lord of Winterfell, something he had dreamt of his whole life. Why would he be interested in being king?

Danaerys of course.... she is technically the legal heir - oh and she also has the dragons!

Honestly, and this is probably something people will scoff at, but I was hoping to see Dany end up with Jon Snow. I think Snow could rule very well, once he grows a bit. And Dany is his match, I think. They both have a high moral character, and both are strong when tested. But I doubt that will be the case.

My dark horse choice would be Tyrion. Hear me out....he has been humiliated, he has swung an axe,is extremely learned and he knows how to play the game of thrones, and has a talent for survival (rule or die). So humility, courage, a keen intellect, a sly cunning and a survivor. It could happen.

Finally, I would LOVE to see Barristan Selmy ascend to the throne. "I'm just a soldier" is somthing many great leaders have said. He's brave, he's righteous, and he will rule well. Again, very unlikely, but it could happen.

Jade Boory Looks like you were right, at least in the show that is.

o khaleesi my khaleesi

I really don't think that Stannis wil be on the Throne. I think Stannis will ever or was able to ever actually get it. I also don't think he truly wants it. I feel he will be the Next Lord Commander of the Wall.

I actually can see the Onion Knight, Ser Davos as King. King Davos will be a pretty interesting sight. I think he has the right heart and mind for it.

I eventually don't think Dany will want it once she gets to the Seven Kingdoms. I think Dany will ended up being a great Lord of like Harrenhal. It has dragon history or Dragonstone where Stannis was staying at for sometime.

I would also love to see Tyrion being King but I really feel that would up being like Robert but you never know. I honestly think that Tyrion will be the rightful Lord of CASTLELY ROCK.

I believe that the Stark children will be the lords of all the north including beyond the wall. Winterfell I believe will be Jon's because I think Bran will be Lord of beyond the wall because of his powers. Rickon take over White Harbor. Arya I can see her being the kings hand. Sanasa maybe ruler of the Vale with Briene of Tarth as her knight guard!

I'm guessing Westeros abolishes kings/feudal system altogether. Sparrowocracy anyone?

To be honest I hope the iron throne gets destroyed.

have you guys even considered the idea that maybe, just maybe, jon is dead and gone? with GRRM it is very possible.

Hodor

My suspicion is that the last book will be an unholy bloodbath, after-which there will be no heirs or claimants for the throne, and indeed no iron throne itself, left. Bring on The Republic of Westeros!

I'd love to see Daenerys on the Iron Throne. She has a kind heart something all the others don't. She is the only one who started from nothing and became a khaleesi, a mother of dragons, a queen, a ruler people followed her (such as the Unsullied) for her good heart. She is merciless when she has to she is born to be a leader!

My boy Jon Snow.

All hail the Half-Man!

A tie between The Queen of Dragons or Tyrion. Ok with either.

Hodor.

If the book stays true to history, Tyrion will become a tyrannical king and be overthrown and killed in battle by Jon Snow, who then will marry Dany to unite the throne.

The real answer is that the series will never be finished.

How about Rickon Stark? For the sole reason that GRRM seem to have totally forgotten about him. I'll admit it'd also be great to see Tyrion or Dany there...

Am I the only one that would like to see Ramsey Bolton on it for a while?

I'm not sure who I want on the throne but as far as claims to the throne go I support the claim of Stannis. Even though Daenerys was the heir of the king before Robert Robert still took the throne somewhat fairly (won it through war) and with all of Ceresi's children being Jaime's and not Robert's that leaves Stannis as his heir. Joffrey took the throne under false pretences so him and his heirs (such as Tommen) are invalid from my point of view. So Go Stannis!

I'm editing my original answer because it looks like Jon is definitely dead.

Just to recap spoilers from the series which uses advanced plotlines from unwritten parts of book 6:

Barristan Selmy - dead
Hizdahr zo whatever - dead
Stannis and his family - dead
Magnar the Thenn and a bunch of other wildlings - dead
Jojen Reed - so dead

Daenarys seems too easy a bet. We want to root for her because DRAGONS but I think the most likely scenario is she will bring about a prophecy and fight the army of the Others.

Which brings me to make a prediction NO ONE ELSE HAS.

I am going out on a long, long limb and say that the King of the Others will win the Iron Throne, at least for a while. A lot of fans think that the Others were not totally evil, but rather immortals that made a deal with humans that just got forgotten. I predict that there will definitely be a battle of the Others breaking through the wall and marching all the way to King's Landing. Daenarys will probably face them and defeat them but then die in the end.

Sansa is the underdog who has learned to survive. But she won't take the throne. She will most likely be given the title of Queen of the North. I suspect she'll have Petyr executed when she realizes he betrayed her father to the Lannisters. His head will wind up on a pike before the series ends.

Tyrion is the ultimate survivor. I predict he will be the sole King in the end, if nothing else because he will probably wind up marrying Daenarys. The reason I say this is that Dany's lover whathisname will most likely die in battle. She will ally herself with him so that House Targaryen and House Lannister are united. Sansa will ally herself with Tyrion because she knows he is the only sane one who can actually pull their country out of chaos.

Tyrion will come with Dany and all her armies will come with them. Dany will most likely die defeating the Others and Tyrion will be left to rule. That begs only the question of who will be at his side and bear his children. A long shot here is Ellaria of Dorne or one of the Sand Snakes. Or even possibly Asha/Yara

Aegon - I don't think he'll wind up as king if for no other reason than he will not have the experience to foresee plots against him.

Euron - doesn't understand anything other than the warrior's way. He won't make it.

Gendry - has a claim to the throne but no one knows who he is.

Tommen - destined to die, probably next season.

Aegon and Arianne Martell.

Mance Rayder, because why not?

I hope it will be Arya and Gendry, but in the way Arya is developing she will probably end up as one of the best assassin's in the realm, which is cool too :D

I am not sure the iron throne means anything to anyone anymore aegon used dragons to make the throne powerful the lannisters ruled becoz of military and financial power but with tywin and tyrion gone the are nothing Sansa will probably be queen of the north vale and riverun. The greyjoys will have the seastone chair and who knows what else and westeros will break like rome broke

As far as I can infer, Daenerys saw Rheagar say "The dragon has three heads." in the House of Undying.
Daenerys Targaryen is the first head
Aegon Targaryen is the second head
Jon Snow(Stark-Targaryen) is definetely the third head.
Aegon 1 conquered Westeros with his two sisters.Likewise, I can see Daenerys conquering Westeros for the targaryens once again. Only this time instead of the brothers aka male line conquering, we might see Daenerys aka female line stealing the show with her dragons.
Daenerys on drogon (Being the biggest of three, naturally going to the queen)
Jon on Rhaegal (Jon, supposedly, being Rhaegar's son)
Aegon on Viserion

Is the bastard blacksmith boy, from the first book, still alive. If so I'd like to see him come out of nowhere and take over

GOT will end with Sansa Stark alone on the iron throne with her final act killing Littlefinger poisoning him with the same poison that killed Joffrey. Jon and Dany with will be killed in battle with Others. Of the major players only Arya, Tyrion and Rickon will survive.

Jon snow with daenerys..

I was just happy Jon or Sansa not sitting on the throne, especially Sansa. Dany went mad and Arya got the killing bug in her system, so she wouldn't be able to stay put in one place so she wouldn't be a good Queen and rule properly.

Tytus Blackwood

Arya, how cool would that be.

No one get iron throne...

Rosie You know what Sekar? You're probably right. And I think that's the best direction the series could go in anyway ...more

Daenerys or maybe Young Griff if he is really Aegon Targaryen

Small man

Although the show completely excluded him, I would love to see Aegon Targaryen with Jon Connington as his hand.

I can see Daenerys taking the throne, since both her story and the series have been building up to that. Honestly though, I think it'd be funny if after all of her struggles, Cersei's, and other the other big players, if Stannis actually ends up winning. Everyone seems to have given up on him at this point, almost Davos, even, so Stannis popping up out of the snow at the very end and being a stern yet reasonable ruler would be both humorous and satisfying.
Despite how much I enjoy that idea, it will probably be Dany. Which does work out well; she's kind and cares for her people, and she's learned how to be a responsible politician. If she manages to break the Targaryen cruelty streak, I think she'll be a wise and kind ruler (hopefully with Ser Barristan advising her).
I do hope that whoever ends up ruling frees the North, so the Starks can keep peace as the rulers of Winterfell. Imagine, Queen Sansa or King Bran or King Rickon...how awesome would that be? (Sorry to Arya, I just think she's a little too wild for any kind of throne. And that Jon Snow better learn his lesson, keep his vow to the Watch, and not meddle with political affairs anymore!)

Elric of Melniboné! Just kidding, but I would love to see Tyrion though I fear he will sacrifice himself nobly to turn the tide of the war to come. So probably Jon or, maybe Robert Baratheon's bastard - the blacksmith that was spirited away?!

I am dumbfounded that no one else wants to see Littlefinger on the throne. He seems to be the one playing the game that will put him there. Varys knows all and acknowledges that he would not bet against him.

Dany but that probably wont hapoen

I think Sansa will take the Iron Throne. I think Peytr will almost take it but Sansa will kill him and take it for herself. I have faith that Sansa will rise up and become a real contender in the fight for the Iron Throne. I secretly hope it will be Peytr with Sansa at his side or Dany, but I think that is to obvious.

If not it will probably be the Night's King.

My guess would be the love child of Sansa Stark and Tyrion Lannister.

I don't think that he'll get the Iron Throne in the end, but something is definitely going to go down with Euron Greyjoy and a surprise naval army from the Islands. He'll probably sit the Throne for a while, until he either gets bored of it and goes to raid somewhere else, or until he gets killed by one of his brothers (Damphair, anyone??)
Ultimately, I have no idea who will rule. Varys seems plausible, except for the fact that he's a eunuch and can't sustain any lineage past himself. He also isn't the type of guy to want to be put in such a dangerous employment position. He knows how quickly kings are killed, and would probably rather stay out of the spotlight.
I actually hope it'll be Petyr and Sansa, bringing the Stark line back into power. Either that or Tyrion (at least let him be the Hand again, if not king)
However, what I really think is that most people will end up dead, and the Iron Throne will no longer be something desirable, because having ultimate power over all the humans in the realm seems rather trivial when the white walkers come in to kill you all.

I would love it if the series ended with a revolution that overthrew the monarchy and replaced it with a republic, featuring Tyrion, Varys, and Arya as leaders.

I think Dany and Jon Snow might end up together, which would solve things neatly.

Dany has dragons

Will probably be one of the most obsolete character in the whole story line, someone who hasn't made an appearance, or has only had a short part, like Hot Pie or Gendry! :)

Not Dany. Tyrion is my favourite, but he wouldn't want it. Jon would be great - or Gendry & Arya, brilliant combination.

There is only one person in this series who really understands how to play the game and also has enough ambition to win it. While all the other characters fight and kill and die, he stays at the sidelines and increases his influence.

The person sitting on the iron throne in the end, will be Petyr Baelish ...with Sansa at his side.

I would like to see Jon Snow as the ruler of Winterfell. I would love to see Tyrion on the Iron Throne...only down side is his dad wouldn't see it bu hopefully he'll roll in his grave. That would be awesome. He has the compassion, intelligence and financial smarts to make King's Landing the place it should be. The people think he's a monster but I would love for something to happen in book 6 to make them see him for who he truly is.

As i see it.. it would be some one els entirely, that i am quite sure will suprise us, or the kingdoms wil not be as we know them.. if you consider how the books have been progresing on til now..
nothing yet have been strait forward.. evry twist and evry trun have been a suprise and diffrent from one my think.. some charecters that we thought would die early on are still alive others that should have survived are dead.. so why should it be so easy that it would end so simply that it would be dany or jon snow that sits the iron throne???
no .. that is not george rr martins style that all will be good and well and they all liv happily ever after.

Ah but the Night's Watch vows are until death. Jon Snow died. When he comes back he's not beholden anymore.
