Daniel Adorno (danieladorno) | 96 comments So I wanted to start a thread about current projects everyone is working on because I love to hear what other Christian authors/writers are up to and how to promote what you're doing!

I'll start things off by saying that I'm currently outlining the sequel to The Blade Heir and simultaneously working on a PDF character guide with histories, places, and lore about the world in the novel.

Another side project I've got cooking is a course for self-published authors on how to create their own book covers. I'm hoping to create video tutorials for authors (no matter their skill level) on how to design a cover in Photoshop and understand the rules of composition in art. It'll be a big project, so it'll be tough juggling it with writing.

If any of you are interested in that future course, please sign up for my mailing list to get updates. You'll receive a PDF guide on free design resources and a mini email course of 3 major mistakes authors make when designing their own book covers. Just scroll down this page and you'll see the sign-up box :)

Okay I'm done!

What projects are you working on right now?

Yay!!! Blade Heir sequel!!! And a character guide! *squeals of delight* :D

I'm currently still working on the first draft of my fantasy novel. It's coming along slowly, but I've got a writing schedule now, and if (that's a big if!!) I stick to it, I should be done by the end of the year. I'm also working on developing back stories for my characters, and that's been fun. I'm really enjoying getting to know them better!! If you'd like to meet one of my characters, I interviewed her over on my blog yesterday. She'd love to meet you! :)

Lavay Byrd (lavaybyrd_author) | 73 comments Cool projects Lena and Daniel! Can't wait to learn more!

Anyway, I have several ideas going through my head while I'm writing the "Light Horse Dark Horse" series, but I'm really excited to talk about my most current project.

I call it "The Aethon Chronicles" a Young Adult fantasy series of four full-length novels, almost like "Light Horse Dark Horse" but WAY different.

Inspired by some of my favorite stories of the Old Testament, "The Aethon Chronicles" is set in a world with civilizations similar to that of Ancient Greece, but its inhabitants are races of equine-like creatures with almost human qualities. Among them are the main characters, the Horses of the kingdom/city-state of Aethon, who each play a divinely-appointed vital role in the preservation of their people.

So... the first novel is King of Aethon, about a young stallion name Leon.

SPOILER ALERT: This is based/inspired by the life story of David before he official became king.

I accidently published it (I was rushing), while it still needs a lot more editing/revising, so I pulled it back until a later date (2016 or 2017).

Lesson learned: don't publish until you're really satisfied with the work.

REALLY excited about these books. You'll actually find out about how are started the series soon!

Thanks. I thought about announcing the project until The Soter Herd is released, but I couldn't hold it in that I had to get it out of my chest! :)

Do you have a title for your novel, yet, or still working on it?

Great, it's best to take your time.

P.H. Solomon (phsolmon) | 28 comments Keep up the good work everyone on all these projects - you are all so busy and that's great!

While I'm releasing The Bow of Destiny in a few weeks, I have the next book on the series in the process of publishing 4/18/16 and the final book next year about this time. I also got an interesting offer about converting my novels to graphic novels today so I'm investigating that. Otherwise, I've got about 3-4 more fantasy series to develop after The Bow of Hart Saga

Merenwen Inglorion | 39 comments Everyone's projects sound so cool! ^.^

I'm working on a story I did during the last Camp Nano session. It started out as a four-part, now it's a two-part. Hopefully they will both be full-length novels.
There have been quite a few revisions since July. ;)

And I discovered a few things that made me realize that I need to have more of the world's history set in stone (more or less) before I can continue writing the actual story.
First draft.

Thanks for sharing, but I think this post would fit better in the Promote Your Book thread.
Thanks!

Thanks, Daniel! Though, I'm planning to release the first novel of my "project" sometime next year or 2017, once I'm complete with the "Light Horse Dark Horse" series. But I'm hoping to be done writing The Soter Herd by the end of this year!

message 20: by Robert (new)

Robert Hutchinson (robert_j_hutchinson) | 4 comments Hi. I am currently working on a history of the early Jesus movement for Thomas Nelson -- from the crucifixion (circa AD 30 or 33) to the Council of Jerusalem in AD 50.

I am looking for good novelistic treatments of this period for inspiration. I have all the "hard" history books I need.

message 21: by McKenzie Rae (new)

McKenzie Rae (danceronfire) | 125 comments That's awesome, Robert. Sounds fun! :)

I currently have a lot going on in my writing life; too many ideas for too many stories all at once.... I guess that's better than writer's block, though. Besides a developing poetry book, I'm co-authoring a children's mystery novel, writing a reminiscent novel about a childhood friendship, writing another novel revolving around a metaphor of Christ's love for us and for the lost, and writing yet another metaphorical novel about something similar, just presented in a completely different way, complete with all the elements of a 15th century royal expedition.

message 22: by Donna (new)

Donna Finished up book I of "Seattle Trilogy" and "Hot Topic Trilogy." I'm currently working on sequels for both. AND....just found out yesterday one of my submissions to an ACFW contest made finalist!!
My published work, When Lyric Met Limerick, is available in ebook. When Lyric Met Limerick

Interesting projects, everyone!! :)

message 24: by Brie (new)

Brie Donning (briedonning) I'm writing a story that's somewhere in between Robin Hood and Tangled. It's about what happens when we interpret reality from fiction. At least that's what I thought it was about when I started. Now it seems to be more about redemption.

Sounds cool! Isn't it funny how books start to write themselves, and they end up totally different from what we'd planned? ;)

Brie Donning (briedonning) Yeah, it's not totally different but then I'm not finished yet.

message 28: by Lavay (new)

Lavay Byrd (lavaybyrd_author) | 73 comments Having recently finished writing my last book of my children's fantasy series "Light Horse Dark Horse", I'm taking a break and working on my second draft of my first full-legnth novel, Untitled.

Spoiler alert, this book is entitled "The Guardian", and its set in "ancient times" (Greece, Rome, Perisia, Israel, etc.)

It's kind of like "Light Horse Dark Horse", but based on the events and characters of the Old Testament... in a whole new level of "Fantasy!"

Really excited for these series!

Madeline Brock | 3 comments I'm working on book three of my Upward Way Chronicles Series, Tobias. It's a coming of age story that takes my character into the Civil War.

All of my books have a spiritual vein through them and Tobias is a pastor's son who believes his good works are enough to save him, until one day he discovers how wrong he was!

message 30: by Madeline (new)

Madeline Brock | 3 comments This sounds like an intriguing book! Hope it's going well for you. I always wish I could find more books of this genre.

message 33: by Michael (new)

Michael Young | 2 comments Hello there members of Jesus Freaks For Writers. My name is Michael Young and I recently wrote a book that has been published and out on sale on Amazon.com and BN.com. The title is called "Living With a Cheetah...Or More." I have been blessed by God to have this accomplishment and I am working on four other projects as I speak.

One is about two gorillas from the Milwaukee County Zoo that I have heard many stories about and one of the gorillas has had all the attention and the other not at all. I am doing a hero vs. legend type book on how the two gorillas are of one aspect and a worldly look on heroes and legends.

The Second is about a man who doesn't talk. It takes place in London and I am waiting further direction from God on that story.

The Third is about my childhood and the Kids in the neighbor hood where I grew up. It is called Mrs. Brown's Little Indians. I hope to make it a series.

My Fourth project is about these twins who receive a special gift from there grandma the day of their grandfathers funeral and the gift takes them through the Bible and the must collect artifacts from the places and times they travel.

Here is were you can get my published book.

I hope this is acceptable and appreciate you coming out of your comfort zones.

Cheryl (hephzibah58) | 3 comments I'm working on writing a particular part of my life story, but still not quite sure from what angle to write it from. The possibilities I'm considering are a Christian fiction novel or just a biography of sorts, sharing what happened to me in order to help and encourage others. Maybe both!

message 35: by Hope (new)

Hope Ann (hopeann) | 2 comments I am working on a retelling of Hansel and Gretel. It is the third novella in a series that goes through each aspect of the Fruit of the Spirit. I also have an allegorical novel and a futuristic trilogy that I'm working on too. :)

message 36: by G. (new)

G. Buckner (gracelynbuckner) I am currently working on my books, "Rising Tensions: A Civil War Story" and "For Such a Time as This: The Story of Esther." I am also doing a monthly story, "Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov: My Story." More info may be found on my blog: gracematlynbuckner.wordpress.com. :)

message 37: by Alex (new)

Alex Charming | 3 comments I am working on the first book in a series I'm hoping to write someday. It's going well so far, I'm almost halfway through it. There's not really much Christian-ish content, except that the two main characters are Christians. But it's about two sisters who get kidnapped by a man who then takes them on an epic adventure through several of the known realms.
