Fishface | 18801 comments Just finished re-reading Cauffiel's MASQUERADE -- it gets better every time -- and have a good start on Henderson's BLOOD IN THE SNOW, which is a much better book than the other one I read on the same crime, A SLAYING IN THE SUBURBS.

Fishface | 18801 comments Bella, how do you get your titles and authors to link to the pertinent pages on Goodreads? Criminy, this website is hard to use.

When you are in the comment box, click "add book/author", you will get a pop up box with a search field, type the title in the search box ie "helter skelter" then click 'add' next to the correct book. For the author, click the tab author at the top of the pop up window.

It is rather detailed and informative, the author explains the reasoning behind some of his conclusions, but, I am having a hard time getting into it. I keep reading other books, I don't know if I am reading other things because I can't get into the book, or can't get into the book because I keep reading other books.

I think I'll set it aside and get back to it later.

♥ Marlene♥ | 65 comments Hey girls. Long time not visit fom me.It is because I checked fishface whom I knew from a few years ago on shelfari and she is a member here too.

What did I read (true crime wise) in 2016.

Okay I finished reading
Della's Web A True Story of Marriage and Murder by Aphrodite Jones which I only gave 2 stars.

Cruel Death by M. William Phelps was surprisingly good. 4 stars.

The Yoga Store Murder The Shocking True Account of the Lululemon Athletica Killing by Dan Morse was fantastic. 5 stars! Highly recommend.

Anne Perry and the Murder of the Century by Peter Graham Historical true crime. Interesting. 4 stars

A Killer Among Us by Charles Bosworth Jr. I am nearly done with. Too long and way too biased. I am mostly if not all on the side of the victim but I want a book to be fair. This was not.

♥ Marlene♥ | 65 comments Oops I should not have added Della's Web . I see now I did finish it in 2015. Now to read your posts and perhaps find some good book recommendations.

♥ Marlene♥ | 65 comments Okay I've read belleza's review on the barrel murders but what i like to know is the book of Tom Henderson. Blood in the Snow

Eileen or anybody else who have read it. Is it a good book? (please no spoilers) . I have read just one book by him and I thought it boring. 3 stars. Darker than night.

Funny you should ask -- I am right in the middle of it now. It's a local story for me and I was afraid I might have heard it all before, between the news reports and the fact that I already read another book on the case, A Slaying in the Suburbs: The Tara Grant Murder. That book did nothing much for me but this one is really excellent. It perfectly captures the way we all felt watching this story develop in the news, AND it gives you the background story from the police-investigation point of view. I can highly recommend this one.

Hi, I must re-read Cauffiel's MASQUERADE again too. It has been a long time and I forget alot.

Shelley | 1225 comments Till Death Do Us Part by J.J. Slate: 4 stars I enjoyed the format as a change of pace. Quick concise tales.

Serial Killer Groupies by R.J. Parker: 3 stars Disappointed. I didn't find it very well written and not a lot I didn't know already.

The Dark Strangler: Serial Killer Earle Leonard Nelson by Michael Newton: 4.5 stars. This is another in a series of books called "Crimes Canada: True Crimes That Shocked the Nation". They have all been very good so far. Short but packed with information.

Camouflaged Killer: The Shocking Double Life of Canadian Air Force Colonel Russell Williams by David A. Gibb: 5+ stars If you read one book on Russell Williams, make it this one.

message 24: by Rita (new)

Rita (crimesleuthjunkie) | 1146 comments Shelley....wow you have all great books here to read. The book on Colonel Russel Williams is awesome. The book I read was called A New Kind Of Monster but I forget the author's name. Great line-up of reads!

Thinking I might read Vampire: The Richard Chase Murders next because Ressler mentioned him a few times in his book.

Rita (crimesleuthjunkie) | 1146 comments Has anyone heard of the Lake County, Illinois case about Life of G.I. Joe? He was found dead and the coroner could not determine if it was suicide or homicide when they found police officer Gliniewicz dead after disappearing for a couple of weeks? It was on CNN tonight and it looked very intriguing. The family is devestated and totally distraught. Very sad....

message 45: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1297 comments I've heard of it. I thought they determined it was suicide, which he set up to try and look like something else.

message 46: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1297 comments Just finished Murder in Pleasanton: Tina Faelz and the Search for Justice & posted a review here & on Amazon.

I thought it was well done, and appreciated the emphasis placed on the friends, family, and acquaintances of the victim and how the crime affected them for years and years to come. This was a horrendously brutal crime, and although the eventual resolution is not a surprise, the conviction was obtained using strictly forensic evidence 30 years later, which was kind of a surprise.

message 47: by Rita (new)

Rita (crimesleuthjunkie) | 1146 comments K.A. have you read the book on this case? Yes, they did say suicide and it would be a good one to read. If it is only on Kindle then I will put it on my wish list. The book Murder in Pleasanton is not in paperback and quite expensive even on Amazon.com. So that too is on my wish list.

message 48: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1297 comments I haven't read a book on the Gliniewicz case. I followed it to some extent at the time because he was a cop (and so was I) so I had a personal interest.

I got the Murder in Pleasanton one for Kindle for $6.99. I don't usually pay more than $5 for an ebook but decided to make an exception because I haven't been reading much lately. Perhaps it'll come down in the future.
