Hi Krissy
It does not have to be a mother showing that behaviour/description/characteristic - it was just an easy reference for the book I selected, though it can be if it works.
Absolutely is can be a negative characteristic like overbearing - I know of a few books to fit in that category :)
Hope the challenge isn't too complicated. I started off with the idea for option 1 and 2 and then thought up option 3 and couldn't disregard it.

Ok...thanks.

M- Maternal Black Lies 5/6 (4*)
Brant looks to Jillian as a mother figure. Brant tells Jillian, "You realize how ridiculous it is for you to order me whores. Most maternal figures would be beaming to see me taking out a respectable woman." Jillian replies, "Your Mother would want this. Trust me."
O- Overprotective Nothing Left to Lose 5/29 (3*)
Anna feels that everyone is acting too overprotective of her. Ashton checks over her room and thinks to himself..."Realisation hit me that maybe I really was too overprotective just like she always said I was."
T- Trust Until the End 5/12 (4*)
Trust is a major theme throughout this book. Even in all the Epilogues. Rock and Trisha couldn't have children so they adopted Preston's siblings. All the characters come from broken homes. Trisha speaks about Jimmy, "He trusted Preston, but it had taken months before he trusted us."
H- Home/Happiness Dirty English 5/31 (4*)
Declan never gives up on Elizabeth. Elizabeth finally realizes that Declan is the one to bring her happiness. Declan tells Elizabeth, "I'm going to give you kids. A home. Happiness. All of my heart."
E- Embarrassing Finding Cinderella 5/21 (4*)
Six is at Daniel's for dinner with his family. His father is telling her embarassing stories about Daniel. His mother walks in and says, "Dennis? What have you been up to? As long as you aren't embarrassing him. I'd hate for Six to find out about his lengthy showers every night."
R- Responsible Full Measures 5/17 (4*)
After getting the news that her father was killed in action. Ember took on the responsibilities for the family. Her mother just couldn't cope. Embers quote, "Something shifted in me ; the weight of responsibility settled on my shoulders, dislodging some of the pain so I could breathe. I had to be the adult right now because no one else here could."

With Elizabeth's past, it is really amazing that she grows to trust and eventually love Declan. He is a total bad boy, fighter that is always looking out for Elizabeth.

Motivated

Tahoe is motivated because of Gina to become a better man.
Opposite

Lizzie can be more opposite of Jax, he is a total player, and she a relantionship girl.
Trust

Priscilla can't seem to trust in Preston after their night spend in jail, because of him.
Hilarious

All the situations involving the pair are to die for. When Ellie found out that she was basically sexting McAllister in the middle of a conference meeting, she bolts and throw herself through the slides in the office :p
Encouraging

Landon encourages Gabriella to become her father's succesor in their buisness. And she encourages him to become a better hockey player.
Reassuring

After Rosa found out that a crew guy leaked nude photos of her, she can't find it in herself to trust. Once they meet, Drake continues to reassure her that it wasn't her fault and that finding love is possible.

I thought it would be harder. It was sometimes difficult to describe the theme of the book, but I read more NA books than I thought so I could choose. Great challenge!
