This doesn't have to be about immigrants in America, but those will likely be the most accessible books.

This book was on sale sometime recently so I purchased it and I'm glad I did. At some point I'll have my daughter read it. The first hand account of arriving on the shores of the US through the immigration process was both difficult and interesting to read.
