Yeah. That's why I'm kind of leaning towards starting the new Series Read a little later so we could read it together.
Besides, I think one group read for December will be enough. A lot of people are probably going to be really busy.

Okay. I hope that's how the poll works out, but we could always overrule it as mods. lol

I'll be doing this series read in February. :) I would have liked to have done it in December, but I do see the logic in doing it later. I just thought the sooner the better really. Anyone read any of the series before?

Yay! I've read them already, but I might try to re-read them if I have time.

Alright, everyone! Today's the day that we start our Series Read for The Selection.
We'll be reading The Selection in February, and the rest of the books until May when The Heir comes out. If you haven't read them, this will be a fun way to read them while waiting for the fourth book!
Feel free to post discussion questions or talk with other group members, but please hide any spoilers as we do have a few members reading with us who have never read the books. We want them to be able to read and have a good time.

OMG. Right? This one was my least favorite out of the three. I went back on forth on it, going between two and three stars before finally deciding on three.

I felt the same way while reading this one. He bothered me a lot!!

I have the paperback bind up of the novellas, but I might get rid of it as soon as the hardcover bind up with The Queen and The Favorite (and the rest of them) is released.

I personally liked The Elite better than The Selection, but I read them as they were released. So I waited a year. I'll have to see how I feel once I start to re-read them.

It seems that lots of people didn't like the second book nearly as much as the first, so it could just be that. I still enjoyed The Elite, but lots of people were frustrated with America.

It's purely because my reader-morals won't let me give up on a series after only one book that I'm reading "The Elite" x

I read the elite straight after I received The Selection (I actually got the Elite and The One prior to getting The Selection), and I didn't like it that much, but I liked it better than The Selection. I loved The One.

:D I liked The Selection Series more with each book. :)

Danique wrote: "I'm reading The Selection now, and liking it so far. I didn't expect that, because of the negative GR reviews. I do agree with Andrea though, it is pretty predictable"
It is very predictable. I liked the second and third books more, but they are at least cute and fluffy reads. I know I see a lot of middle school girls reading them now, and they actually use them as a gateway to the better dystopia books.

My mom loves YA too! She read HP way, way before I did, and I finally read them when I was 22. She was so happy. She recently read If I Stay, so I'm trying to get her to read a few more of my books.

lol I got The Elite and The Selection from the library, and two weeks later I got The One.

well we all have our opinions. :) I'm really excited for The heir though. :D

That's pretty cool. :) lol my mum apparently "doesn't have time" to read anything but medicine books. :( :O

I liked how it kind of seemed old fashioned, and as I kept reading the rest of the books, Cass somehow reveals just how archaic the Selection really seems. Kind of weird, but still kind of cool. I don't know... the palace is just a strange place to be. lol
Another book that is set in the future, but seems like it is in the past is The Queen of the Tearling, but it's way more medieval feeling than The Selection.

I am STILL waiting on The Elite. I'm moving up on the hold list but I never thought it would take this long. I really want to continue this series.
