2023 Mount TBR Challenge

My books:
(view spoiler)

Netanella wrote: "Kimberly, is there an age-limit for the books? For example, they need to have been purchased in 2021 or earlier?"
The purpose of this is to cut down on the books you already own, not new ones purchased. Whatever the date, if it's been sitting around, unread ( I usually go for at least a year, but that's just me) works. It's not a competition, just a personal challenge to help get to some of those books you "forget" you have. :)

I'm in and I'm challeging myself to read at least 20. (Even at only 20 I usually fail this challenge every damn year!)
I just made a new shelf for this challenge and added the 17 books from this year's failed challenge, so I get to choose 3 more:
1. The Ceremonies by T.E.D. Klein (Feb-March)
2. The Uninvited by Dorothy MaCardle

Same here! LOL!

My spot is here. Setting my goal low. Only 7 for me.
I am making this a challenge within a challenge. :) Will list them out as I read them with a read date. I literally have over 5000+ books stuck in the cloud so I should be able to find something to complete this challenge. lol
7/7
Books I have owned seven years:
1) Ghost Town - read - 1/21/2023 - 5 stars.
2) Child's Play - read - 4/22/2023 - 5 stars.
Books I have owned six years:
1) Hollow House - read - 2/2/23 - 1 star.
2) In the Murder House - read 4/14/23 - 5 stars
Books I have owned five years:
1) The School of Revenge - read 4/12/23 - 4 stars
Books I have owned four years:
1) Witching Hour Theatre - read 4/12/23 - 4 stars
2) Pine Lakes - read 5/14/23 - 4 stars
Im so terrible at challenges yet really yearn to finally do well on one, maybe this will be the year!

That's my hope too, Kim. One TBR that I already own a month. We got this! :)

That's good thinking, Kim, not too much, but you can still see some progress. I was thinking of something between 15 and 20, but maybe I'll start with 12 too.

I'll stick with one a month as well. :)

I just missed my goal--I'm thinking 25 might be a good one to start off--any more will be a bonus!

Exactly Marie, me too. I took a look at the most anticipated horror for 2023 and saw the new Catriona Ward, Victor Lavalle and a ton of new authors and I started drooling all over my tbr-list, I can't control myself.
That's why I ended up here, I want to tidy up a little but I'm starting with my physical shelf. There are still the invisible tbr's on my kindle and on my kobo but those are a whole different thing. I feel so dirty writing all this 😅

Totally 100% agree! It is like I block out what I already own and just want to read the new stuff! lol Then at the end of the year I am like - where did the time go - I never did get to those books that have been locked up for years on my kindle! lol
Blow the dust off the physical books and have fun! lol :) More reading power to you, Inciminci! :)

True confession time. The oldest unread book on my Kindle is Fear and Trembling by Soren Kierkegaard, which I downloaded in 2012. That's some deep reading that it's taken me nearly 11 years to undertake. Maybe this is my year?? 😂

Maybe it is, Theresa! :)
The oldest for me is 2016 on kindle - it is looking like I have around 216 books that I haven't read from that year. I don't even want to look at 2017 - probably near 500 there. lol
