Jess, you might also thinking about Innocent in Death. Enters Magdalena, an old flame of Roarke's that causes real problems for the relationship. She did not live on the premises, however. Summerset was indeed on her side as he remembered her as manipulative and with too much power over Roarke, in fact, more than any other ex-flame, I think. This part of the story is actually a side-line story which adds a lot to the book, though. The mystery line is a series of murders at a private school.

Thanks for the help :)

I'm going to bump this thread up to the top, as it is a good one for anyone who might have a question about a book, or anything series related that another member might be able to help with.

1. As everyone else I loved where Eve gets to finally knock the b**ch out, lol!
2. I love the storyline between Eve & Roarke in this book. I know it's not your typical love story but this series is supposed to progress along with their marriage. I really want to see the downs, as well as the ups. It makes them that much sweeter to me and also makes them seem more real as a couple to me.

I totally agree, Alyssa. I enjoyed that sub-plot and punch more than even the mystery, although I love the rest too.
Also Alyssa, Can I have your permission to put this comment under the Innocent in Death Topic under the books heading, or perhaps you can just copy it over there if you would be willing. Maybe more people would like to share their thoughts about the plot. I'll wait for your answer, but am going to add one of my own. There's another observation about the sub-plot that I thought was interesting.

Eve was on the phone with Roarke as she was driving home from work, and she gets hit by another car and there's this huge accident. And then there was an adorable scene that follows where Roarke shows up not knowing if she's alive or not.
That's all I can remember, not even the rest of the plot. Anyone have an idea which book this belongs to?

I doubt that helps you to find the first scene, but the second one is too adorable to miss. I thought the first scene was from Judgment in Death, which I am currently skimming but cannot find it, so I'm wrong.

I think it's the one with the bomb that goes off... Yeah it's such an awesome scene that I want to re-read it.
I just ordered vengeance in death on my kindle.. I hope I come across the scene. I hate when I get stuff in my head and have a fierce need to re-read.

Or you can check this site out...it is a must for In Death lovers like ourselves and it is full of any information you'd ever want to know about the series.

That's the one I'm thinking about, but cannot find it--it is hard to find one specific scene by skimming.

I did some research using the website link Alyssa refers to in her comment.
The scene I was thinking of was in Promises in Death. A car is following her, and she ends up hitting a van and gets some bruises.
The one I think you're referring to though is in Vengeance in Death. Someone has rigged her car to blow up. She gets out of the car to handle a fight and that's when it blows up and she gets pretty seriously injured. Dallas is screaming for a communicator so she can call Roarke, but he shows up before she can. The MT gives her a shot and Roarke takes her to a health center. The scene starts on page 210 of the paperback version.

it will be well worth it. One of my favorites.

there is a clip of Roberts talking about the In Death series.

Oh and I found this site... don't know if anyone here has mentioned it but it's an "In Death" series wiki :-)

Thanks for that link, Serena...I just had a thorough look through, and listed the ones I haven't read from the series yet...there are 11 of them! :)

I don't know if you ever got an answer but it's Strangers in Death :)

According to wikiindeath.com which corroborated what I thought I remembered - Eve weighs 120lbs and is 5'10". However, I think I remember it being said somewhere that she lost a good bit of weight after one of her accidents, but at this moment I can't remember which one.
As far Morris goes, I believe it's pronounced like 'Lee' just spelled differently.

I've got that problem, too. I listened to all the audiobooks, but I've tried to search for scenes in paper copies as well! The funny thing is that while a scene may take 5 minutes on audio, it's only like 1 page long.... So it's hard to find that ONE page!
Elizabeth wrote: "Same here. i mean, im still a young and whatnot but when i read this book i feel like if i stopped reading it and i was suddenly thirty-something, that would be so normal! you know what i mean?"
I'm the same way! I read a lot of young adult fiction, and if it's well-written, I feel 16 or 17 when I read. In this case, I relate more to Peabody (sheltered upbringing) and Mavis (I have a baby) than to Eve (although Eve DOES make me want to work out so I'll be skinny again!)... Peabody is like 25, and Mavis, 29. I'm 27, so I guess there's not too much imagination-stretching going on there...
You know what's funny though? When they talk about how old Roarke is (35), I always think, "No... he can't be THAT old!" But that's only 5 years older than my husband... drrrr...

My hubbie's 50 and still sexy to me - love that man!! But if I had to have a fantasy guy, well Roarke is it. The only other one that comes close is Barrons in the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning.

Ditto! Sometimes I'm like, "Wow... How old will I be then? 76? Holy CRAP...."

Roarke and Eve fight for a majority of the book because one of his old flames comes and stays in the house. Eve thinks that Roarke is being conned and she keeps trying to tell him and he wants Eve to back off. I believe Summerset came into the picture and he was on Eve's side in this case, which surprised her.
For the life of me I can't remember anything else about the book. Anyone have the foggiest as to which one it is?
