This book feels like a lesson in common sense for managers. However, common sense is often not so common. In fact, among most managers, it’s as rare as a blue moon. Julie does a fantastic job of making that rare common sense more common.

I meant to finish this book in January, but here I am, twelve days into February, stuck on Page 45. The book isn't to blame, it’s just too bulky to carry around. I can’t wait to settle in and lose myself in Athiranippadam.

Sreedharan and Kunjappu must be impatient with my slow reading. I already see them as long-lost neighbors, reunited after years.

Most management books complicate things. The role of a manager is complex, no denying that. But, somebody has to put things in context in layman terms to enable those who are climbing up the corporate ladder.

This book does that with flair.

As a Tambrahm myself, I can visualize the characters in vivid detail. I have seen and interacted with several of this lot.

I like how the story is developing. I like the ambience of the old agrahara in Karnataka where religious texts imprison men and women in a web of rituals and customs.

It is funny how religion & customs can make even a dead man a problem for his family and neighbors.

Another book that I find impossible to put down.

I knew Madhavikutty will give me a jolt with her writing.
I should be working on an overdue assignment. But, no this book has grabbed me with a ferocity that I cannot shake off.

Hardly a page is dedicated to the history of Samosa. Nevertheless, I am not disappointed by this extensive research compilation of India’s food history. One of a kind book.

I like the mention of popular books and how it is getting weaved into the story.

This is more of a historical analysis than food writing. The research and factual depth are comparable to Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari, but with a specific focus on the food and agricultural practices of the Indus Valley Civilization and their influence on our modern dietary habits over the centuries.

I found this book in an old pre-used bookstore.
I am having a hard time pausing the read to get some work done.

The foreword itself was poetic. The story - has it begun, I don’t know. The timeline has gone back to the protagonist’s (?) grandfathers history and a day in his life. What vivid writing! It just flows slowly, silently and beautifully like the Dal lake on a winter morning.

It is books like these that really teach me history in an interesting manner. Food + history - whatta beautiful combo.

There’s a lot of tea being spilled (not literally, but you get the vibe), and the genteel drama is entertaining.

Jane Austen masterfully portrays the intricacies of class dynamics at their peak. The diverse cast of eccentric characters makes this a delightful read. I'm glad I finally picked up this classic!
