Sickly breath the scent of rotted meats wafted on the trembling breeze. My throat pinched closed but not before a betraying whimper tattled, saying without an uttered word, "Here am I!"

There are two more books coming in the series. Depending on if I have any epiphanies between now and book 5, I might have to extend to a sixth book. I am so so so so happy that you are enjoying the series! Who is your favorite character from The Treasonous? :)

Rachel! Sorry I am just reading this now. I can't believe I didn't see this sooner. I am sure I've been on Goodreads plenty in the last couple months, but somehow I missed the questions!
I'm soooo excited you got a copy of the book. It can totally be read by itself. They are written as standalone stories, but everything makes a little more sense if you read them in order. I give enough details in the 2nd that you're fine not to read the first. :) If you'd like an ebook of The Beauty Thief I'd be happy to send you one. Feel free to message me if you're interested!
THANK YOU!

J.D! So sorry, just seeing your question now. Wow! How did I not see this? I almost hate to admit it, but I do. Sometimes I wonder if I'm a little crazy, because by conversations I mean they actually answer back in my head. We've even had a few arguments. haha

I haven't had too much trouble with writer's block at this stage in the game, but I'd say that if you are feeling like you can't move forward then step back and look at the big picture. Maybe it would be helpful to do a little flash fiction to clear your brain. When I was feeling a little stuck writing the Beauty Thief I would start to imagine what I wanted to the cover to look like and what I wanted it to reveal about the story. I spent a lot of time using PaintShop and/or my Dixon Ticondaroga #2 pencil to create artwork and cover designs. That was a great way for me to refocus and kept me creative at the same time.

The best thing about being a writer? I get to be me. I get to take my thoughts and imagination, giving them life and purpose. It inspires me to do, in real life, what I ask of my characters and that's to be heroes, to be compassionate, honest, and good.

Don't get caught up in the old adage: write what you know. As nice as that is, you will almost always find you know practically nothing in this world. Instead, write what you want to know, write what your mind is desperate to say. The whole 'write what you know' will spring out of your creativity.

My current work in progress is book two of the Chronicles of the Twelve Realms series which will be called Captive Hope. It follows a few of the characters from book one, The Beauty Thief. I hope to have it done before summer and ready for the editor so that I can hopefully release it by December of this year. I'd like to have two books on the self. There is a third one for the series I've already started outlining. It doesn't have a name yet, but there will be at least four books in this series, all following different characters from the Twelve Realms. Check out my blog post Twelve Realms to find out more about the land of my characters.

I get inspired to write by lots of little things. Writing certainly begets more writing, so when I stay active with it, then I am the most inspired. Little things around me can inspire a story. One word or thought can do it. I just love writing. It feels right.

It may sounds kind of silly, but from a conversation I had with God about my own heart attitude. I was talking to God about how I felt disconnected from life at the time and this thought occurred to me, maybe it was God speaking to me through the Holy Spirit, but the thought was that my heart was missing love, the beauty in me. At the time, I wasn't reading my Bible or praying much and I was disillusioned with circumstances. I was reminded during that conversation that my heart was so self-focused that I was feeling kind of ugly. Without a good measure of love and outward focus, I was missing out on what makes me beautiful. Yes, a silly place to start from, I know, but this is a sweet story about the importance of our inner beauty, of the love that comes from deep within. I think it not only affects the people around us, but when we are without love, we become lost within ourselves.
