Yes, they have the same title. I haven't seen it yet but I hear it emphasizes the humor in the book.

I admit that I lacked commitment and inspiration when I was a working mother. It was just too exhausting and even in summers, I was busy carting kids here and there and attending their games, etc. I wouldn't have missed that. Most of my stories were oral back then--stories made up for my children, embellishments of life's little catastrophes for friends, funny anecdotes. People would say, "You are so funny. I love your stories." But, oddly, when I sat down to put my story-telling on paper, I found that humor is not my genre. I was inspired to write any time I had a day laying out before me like a blank page.

I am working on the sequel to The Bond Woman. I wasn't sure I'd ever do that, but, when my "fans" demanded one, I thought I better get busy! I am on it! And having so much fun with it.

Take creative writing courses to hone your skills. Be teachable. Don't think you have nothing to learn. Approach writing less as narration and more as creating scenes to play out on the screen of the reader's mind. I also learned the hard way that, although I taught English and am confident with handling the English language, the great TYPO TERROR is always nearby. You can't proof-read your own work. Your eye will fix your mistakes because your brain remembers what you intended. Find an excellent proof-reader and feed it to him/her ten chapters at a time. And swear him/her to secrecy!

I should like to add to my above comment that I highly recommend "The Exrtreme Novelist" by Kathryn Johnson, available on Amazon. In it Kathryn challenges the idea that you have no time to write, but she also clearly explains the "movie in the mind" or "show not tell" technique mentioned in my answer above.

I fall in love with my characters. I get to know them as I create them. I follow them through joy and sorrow, wrong decisions and the consequences. I believe in second chances, third chances, and I offer them that. Honestly, I can say that when I am writing, I am never lonely.

The only kind of writer's block I honestly experienced was not being able to find time to write when I was teaching and raising three kids. I did write, but it was sporadically from summer to summer. When I retired from teaching and my kids were grown, I filled the empty nest and empty hours with writing! However, I took too long to write and publish my first novel, but, with the enthusiastic response it has received plus with readers calling for a sequel, I am so turned on to writing. I won't disappoint them!

I've always been intrigued by the Biblical "love triangle" of Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar. In fact, the title for my book comes from Sarah's words to her husband, Abraham: "Cast out the bond woman and her son!" I decided to write a modern version of that story. Because I needed someone who could be literally "cast out," it was natural to think of the Amish practice of shunning. So the modern Hagar character became an Amish girl I named Hannah. Also, I have lived near an Old Order Amish community most of my life. Add the powers of observation to careful research, and I had the trappings of my story. I don't want to mislead readers into thinking that The Bond Woman: An Amish Woman in Love with a Man on The Outside falls under the genre of Christian Literature. It does not.
