Alan Hlad Dear Bonnie,
Thank you so much! I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed the books. There is nothing better than having a story transport you to another time and place. As for a favorite location, I have many of them. In the US, I love Ohio, especially the Cuyahoga National Park, and Portland, Maine. In Europe, some of my favorite cities include Lisbon, Paris, Valencia, Florence, and a beautiful town in Scotland called Oban. I'll do my best to keep the books coming. Many thanks for taking the time to write!
Alan Hlad You are very welcome, Kellie. I'm deeply grateful for your kinds words. Yes, I've received feedback that the books evoke emotion. It is my hope that readers will love the characters and their stories. Thank you again for taking time to write. You made my day!
Alan Hlad Hello, Kellie! Thank you for your questions. My mother inspired my writing career. Throughout my childhood, she gifted me loads books and encouraged me to read and write. I feel fortunate to have a parent who fostered my passion for storytelling. As for a favorite book, it is difficult to pick one. However, I'm thrilled for the release of my upcoming novel, THE BOOK SPY, that will be released January 2022. The story is inspired by real-life librarian spies of the OSS, the World War II predecessor to the CIA. It was a ton of fun to research and write the story, and I'm excited for you to read it. Many thanks!
Alan Hlad Thank you so much, Kellie! I'm thrilled to hear that you loved the book. Your CCI dogs sound incredible!
I'm passionate about animals, and I was inspired to write THE LIGHT BEYOND THE TRENCHES after reading an article about the first guide dog training school that was established in Oldenburg, Germany in 1916. And THE BOOK SPY was inspired by real-life librarians who were recruited to the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the World War II predecessor to the CIA. These brave librarians were deployed to neutral European cities, where they acquired and microfilmed Axis publications for Allied intelligence services.
I'm honored that the story resonated with you. Many thanks for taking time to write!
Alan Hlad Hello, Ila! Thank you for your note! I love historical fiction, especially tales set in WWII. THE BOOK SPY was inspired by real-life librarians who were recruited by the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the WWII predecessor to the CIA. Yes, I enjoy reading many historical fiction writers who write tales in this time period. Also, I'm delighted to share that the audiobook will be released on January 31, 2023, a week after the print release. Many thanks for taking time to write. I'm excited for you to listen to the story!
