Simon Sebag Montefiore i much prefer writing fiction. my histories are about power. my novels are about private life and of course Love. and i love writing about that

I will be listening to your book on the Romanovs. I have been informed that each chapter is preceded by a cast list and that this is extremely helpful. Also maps and family trees are to be found in the book. I must listen to the audiobook since I have poor vision. Is there any way I can obtain access to the lists, family trees and maps? I would appreciate your help. Audible speaks of no accompanying PDF. Thank you!
Simon Sebag Montefiore Oh thats annoying. yes there are castlists in the book but of course not in the audio. i am not sure how to get the castlists to you. a better idea is just to relax enjoy the story and not worry too much about the family trees and castlists.... hope you enjoy the book and best wishes to you from london. simon

I have read the 'Stalin, court of the red tsar' and really enjoyed it. The detail and information was fantastic. How did it take you to write it? How much work goes into a book like that? Thanks Paul
Simon Sebag Montefiore So glad you liked it. you might enjoy young stalin too. these books are so much work usually about 3 or 4 years each, its always a relief when its over. my new one is The Romanovs. best wishes simon

Hello, Mr. Montefiore: Sorry for this long intro:: I just published the sixth of a series, set in a village in Tuscany, that follows characters from WWII to 2000. I often felt the characters were inside my head and writing their stories. Now I can't get rid of them. So my question is: Do you still think a lot about the people in "One Night in Winter" and "Sashenka" and all the others? How does an author let go?

Hi Mr. Montefiore! When there are tons of other books being published about the same historical topics, how do you single yourself out to be different from all of the others? Because believe me, I love everything there is about history and I've read a few of your books and they are amazing! Reading about historic times and events are so fascinating and I just want to know what makes your books unique? Thank you!
Simon Sebag Montefiore hi ashleigh thank you for this lovely question. i am so glad you like the books. i work very hard to make the history books both scholarly and based in archival research but also accessible to all readers. as for the novels, they are very different from the history books. anyway thank you and i hope you enjoy the new one The Romanovs. yrs Simon
