A Slice of the Seventies tells the true story of Jersey-born Mug, a troubled girl from a recently broken home. It covers her experiences as a teenager at the Isle of Wight Music Festival in 1970, the same year she follows a guru. The book tracks her tumultuous four years as an art student in Coventry, where vegetarian Mug finds herself living next door to an abattoir and a railway shunting yard with David, a fellow art student. Dramatic events follow on from the evening they first meet at a party, where David is attempting to commit an extremely public suicide.

Whether you were around during that decade or not, you're bound to enjoy this nostalgic Slice of the Seventies. This loosely autobiographical book can be read as a stand-alone without having to read The Lying Scotsman, and Straws, books 2 and 3 in the Mug trilogy. The Kindle of The Lying Scotsman is FREE on Amazon from the 27th-28th November. It’s book 2 in The Mug Trilogy of third-person memoirs. The words were triggered by Mug’s entanglement with … let’s call him Michael. Mug was a recently divorced woman in her late forties. Michael was a complex, enigmatic Scottish baggage handler eleven years her junior who was hiding shocking secrets from the world.

Mug began writing a truthful book about their unusual story planning to give it to Michael for Christmas. When she let him read the first few chapters, he threatened to drive off a cliff. Nevertheless, she continued writing her book. After eventually discovering the truth Michael had been hiding for years, it was Mug who wanted to die. The purpose of her book then changed. It became her attempt to make sense of the bizarre events unfolding as she wrote it, and to help her and Michael deal with the aftermath.
