A Slice of the Seventies is book 1 of the Mug Trilogy of third-person memoirs. It tells the story of Jersey-born Mug, a troubled girl from a recently broken home. The book covers her experiences as a teenager at the Isle of Wight Music Festival in 1970, the same year she follows a guru and embarks on a brief spiritual journey. It tracks her tumultuous four years as an art student in Coventry. Vegetarian Mug finds herself living in a rundown house next door to an abattoir with David, a fellow art student who she saved from hanging himself at a student party.

Whether you were around during that decade or not, you'll enjoy the nostalgia in A Slice of the Seventies. It can be read as a standalone without having to read The Lying Scotsman, and Straws, the other two third-person memoirs in the Mug Trilogy.
