L.J. Simpson was born in Wolverhampton, England in 1956. He worked primarily in the steel industry until 1990 when he embarked on a fairly radical change of direction, moving to Japan where he opened a small English language school. Married with two grown up children, work still takes up a great deal of his time. The remainder he divides up between taking long walks by the sea with his ever faithful border collie, building model tall ships and writing.

There is only a limited amount of time that I can spent at the keyboard and it's rarely long enough for me to run out of ideas. If I do get stuck, I find that red wine helps. White wine is almost as good. Beer just makes me want to pee.(less)

It sometimes pays to study how other author…moreThe best advice I can give is to take your time, don't set deadlines and do the best job you possibly can. It sometimes pays to study how other authors write, which is not something I really thought about as a reader. There might be times when you think you'll never finish the project but stick at it and you'll get there in the end. I got such a buzz when I actually published on Amazon.
One last thought, it might be a good idea to consider how you will promote and market your book a good while before you publish. I never gave it a thought. Silly me...
