Kindle Pre-Orders
I just turned in the galleys for
Darling Beast
which means we’re on track for release on October 14th. If you’d like to get an alert notice in your inbox on the day of the book’s release, sign up for my The Book is Out! newsblast.
Now for some slightly less fun news: my publisher is Hachette and at the moment Hachette and Amazon are squabbling. Amazon has decided to take down the pre-order links on all Hachette books for Kindle. I’m holding out hope that by the time Darling Beast is released all this will be resolved, but for the moment you can’t pre-order the book for Kindle. You can preorder Darling Beast in all other ebook formats and you can preorder it in paperback on Amazon and every other book retailer. You can also buy all my other books on Kindle—it’s just the preorder books that are affected. I’m sincerely sorry for this situation. I’ll be sure to post to Facebook, Twitter, my website, and in my newsletter to let you know when things are back to normal.

Historical Romance Retreat
I hope you're having a wonderful summer! I've been working to plant my brand new garden--my neighbor looked over the fence and asked if I'd bought out the garden center. ;-)
Meanwhile, I'm putting together an extra-special free story for my readers: an epilogue for Dearest Rogue ! Here's how it will work: when pre-orders of Sweetest Scoundrel reach 1,500 on Amazon I'll be posting the story to my website so everyone can read it. We're at about 1,000 pre-orders now, so I think this is a very attainable goal. If you haven't already pre-ordered Sweetest Scoundrel , now is the time to do it!
I'm pleased to announce that I'll be attending an all-new romance convention next year--just for historical romance writers and readers! The Historical Romance Retreat will be held September 22-25 in Spokane, Washington at the beautiful Davenport Hotel. Reader attendance is limited to 300 people and there's a special Early Bird registration price, so hurry up and register for this fun event!
See you there!

Maiden Lane Continues!
Glorious news, Peeps: more Maiden Lane books are in the works! Last night I signed a contract with my publisher for three more Maiden Lane books (Books #10, 11, & 12) and three Maiden Lane novellas. My fall just got a whole lot busier, but I'm very excited. Right now I'm writing Valentine Napier, the Duke of Montgomery's story. It's titled
Duke of Sin
, it'll be out late Spring 2016, and you can already pre-order it on Amazon Kindle (which I always find a tad unsettling since I haven't finished the book yet.)
THANK YOU to all my beautiful, wonderful, and, of course, very intelligent and tasteful readers and hang on for more Maiden Lane!

Copy Edits and More...
The snow has finally arrived here in Minneapolis, Minnesota and as I type the sun is sparkling off white drifts in my backyard. I'm inside all cozy with two dogs on my lap and Darla on her big bed by my chair.
I just got the copy edits for Duke of Sin . Copy edits are the second-to-last step in the editorial process before the book is published--at least at Grand Central Publishing, my publisher. What I actually received in my inbox was three documents. First, an editorial form letter telling me that I really, really ought to read the copyedits (perhaps some authors don't?) and giving me the date I need to get them back to my editor. Secondly, a "style sheet" for the book, which lists things like the name for every character mentioned in the book (so that we can all agree on the right spelling), esoteric words (almost all my more interesting four-letter words end up here) and words with hyphens that once again I've missed. And finally, the manuscript itself, all marked up with the copy editor's comments and edits. My job is to read through the manuscript and make sure everything is in order.
The reason I tell you all this is because after I'm finished with the copy edits is when I take the excerpts that I put in the newsletter. So if you're not subscribed to my newsletter (why not?) and you'd like to get a sneak peak at Val's book before it comes out, subscribe now! www.elizabethhoyt.com I'll be sending the first excerpt this month.
Meanwhile, Duke of Sin is already available for preorder at most stores including Kindle and Nook and you can of course shelf it on Goodreads by hitting that lovely little green Want to Read button. Why not?
Enjoy!
