I love to write romance stories. I also have a day job with Medicare. I just wish I could quit my day job and write full time! I have so many stories rattling around in my head trying to take over my life that half the time I sound like a moron when I'm chatting with friends.

When I'm not writing I am spinning, knitting or reading. Fiber arts are a form of therapy for me, and while I'm spinning or knitting my characters talk to me. So if you look at a piece of my knitting and find an odd hole here and there, I was probably having an intense, private discussion with a werewolf while I was knitting that particular spot.

That means it doesn't cost anything except your time. And if you're going to be a writer, you really ought to budget some time for social media and blogging. You don't have a to write a blog post every day either. Just post little things from time to time. What are you writing right now? What did you do last weekend? Which authors do you like? What books have you read lately?

Then be sure to make (nice) comments on other people's blogs. Most times when you leave a comment you have the opportunity to add your email addy which is private, and your web addy, which isn't. Sometimes people who like your comment will follow the link to your blog. It's a way to make friends.

If you choose to submit to a publisher or agent, I can just about guarantee they will look to see if you have a web presence. (less)

I started writing Carla and Taye's story and Lisa and Eddie's story as a gift for some co workers. They told me what they wanted, but since they wanted different things (one wanted a western romance, one native American, another werewolves, and more) I had to be very creative to give them all what they wanted. LOL

I agree that Latinas and other women of color aren't as well represented in romance as they should be. One of my heroines, Sherry from Sherry's Wolf, is half black and half Korean. I'm planning a novella for Paige Tyler's Kindle World series Dallas Fire & Rescue. The hero from that is Dustin Wolfe (yes, an ancestral uncle of the Lakota Wolf Clan), and the heroine is Alicia Ybarra. So, another Latina coming up!

Thanks for asking, Mia!(less)

Maddy’s Update June 2025

Hello, all! It has been quite a while since I posted. I have a couple of health (physical and mental) updates, some rambling thoughts to share, and some book news. Buckle up!

Back at the end of January 2024 I received an email from the new pastor of the church I’d been a member of for over 20 years letting me know that he found my books to be sinful and leading my readers to hell. He said I had to

Hey! I didn't realize Wolf's Oath was out yet. I didn't know Smashwords would be so quick! Thanks for letting me know. This is my first real "self-pubbed" book. I hope my experiment is successful. I'm as nervous as I ws when KI submitted my first book to publishers. LOL Hope you enjoy Connie and Des :)

Haikufall I love that you have new books on Smashwords! I just got your new book, I hate having to wait around for B&N and Amazon and with the way there taking books off there shelf's I like having another place to get my book fix.

Just re-read your post I live about 3 hours from Sault Ste Marie in Marquette, MI, so 3 hour dive is considered a short road trip for us. As for your friend that teaches chemistry I have my master in Oceanography with minor in marine biology and am still playing with fresh water, think its about time I move back to the sea or I'll have to go back to teaching and as much fun as that was I would rather play on a boat during the day,

No, thanks! Too much snow up in the UP :) Although the summers and the lake do sound heavenly. I have friends who just moved to Sault Ste Marie. Probably nowhere near you, since it's on the far eastern edge. He teaches chemistry at the college there.

I see that B&N still hasn't uploaded Eddie's Prize yet. Silly people. I notified my publisher, and they're going to send a reminder. Turns out that Barnes & Noble has a bad habit of waiting months sometimes before loading the files. Sigh.

Haikufall Just read your update and if you like cold winters you should come to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan or the U.P as we locals call it. It's winter 6 mouths out of the year and when we have summer is beautiful with weather in the 70-80, and the largest lake on earth to play in.

Haikufall Haikufall wrote: "Thanks for the friending! I was just wounding when Eddie's prize will be up on B&N?"

Thanks for getting back to me so fast, ill keep checking on B&N, I have been looking forward to this book and hope to get my hands on it soon.

Hi! I'm not sure about B&N. I know the publisher sends the file the morning of the release date to the various online retailers, but B&N, Amazon, etc can put it up when they choose. I guess just keep checking :(
