Jason answered Belinda Jonak's question: Picking nits: pg. 165, paragraph 2- Acer is the genus of maples not oaks. How you do you define "panther"? Jefferson's panther skin had to be a cougar aka puma, painter, mountain lion, etc. Their "size matters" difference of opinion does seem silly by modern standards. Thank YOU for picking nits! I want my work to be as accurate as possible, but errors have their way of creeping in. This one is flagged for corrections in future printings. It would be lovely if other researches could unearth more details in the life of Lucas, Buffon’s unacknowledged son.
