The author of The Dark Fable, Thorn Jack, Briar Queen, and Nettle King. (The Children of Night and Nothing series) Pretty good Painter and terrible gardener. Loves Faery, the Gothic, Victorian writers, the female surrealists, botany, and myth & folklore. My aunt once dated a Beatle, my father loved to read Mark Twain, and, if I was brave enough, I'd explore all those haunted woods and houses. ...more

Thank you so much for loving Night and Nothing. I have been writing, but I haven't quite written the exact thing publishers are seeking at the moment. My current manuscript with my agent is called The Beautiful Beasts and is about a gang of international thieves, with unique abilities, in contemporary California. Hopefully, this will be my next series, fingers crossed:)
I'll keep posted on my Goodreads blog!(less)

Farewell For Now, Reviews

Hello all,
According to Google, I am a public figure.

That's weird and I don't like it. But because of it I don't feel comfortable posting reviews at this time, since my fellow writers are my colleagues. I'll continue to make lists here of the books I want to read and occasionally ramble on about something else. Maybe.
For now, you can find me @katharbour77 on Instagram where I post what I'm reading Read more of this blog post »

“She didn't feel like a girl when he kissed her, but like fire in a girl's form, burning and hungry.”
Katherine Harbour, Briar Queen

“Nature itself has a memory: There is some indefinable psychic element in the earth’s atmosphere upon which all human and physical actions or phenomena are photographed or impressed.                   —”
Katherine Harbour, Nettle King

“He that has fallen, is now of the dead, proud of spirit, a crown on his head, I call his likeness into bronze and plastic instead.” Micah”

“Let us go forth, the tellers of tales, and seize whatever prey the heart long for, and have no fear. Everything exists, everything is true, and the earth is only a little dust under our feet.”
W. B. Yeats

“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”
W.B. Yeats

“Even broken in spirit as he is, no one can feel more deeply than he does the beauties of nature. The starry sky, the sea, and every sight afforded by these wonderful regions, seems still to have the power of elevating his soul from earth. Such a man has a double existence: he may suffer misery, and be overwhelmed by disappointments; yet, when he has retired into himself, he will be like a celestial spirit that has a halo around him, within whose circle no grief or folly ventures.”
Mary Shelley, Frankenstein

“It was anyway all a long time ago; the world, we know now, is as it is and not different; if there was ever a time when there were passages, doors, the borders open and many crossing, that time is not now. The world is older than it was. Even the weather isn’t as we remember it clearly once being; never lately does there come a summer day such as we remember, never clouds as white as that, never grass as odorous or shade as deep and full of promise as we remember they can be, as once upon a time they were.”
John Crowley, Little, Big

“Learning to decipher words had only added to the pleasures of holding spines and turning pages, measuring the journey to the end with a thumb-riffle, poring over frontispieces. Books! Opening with a crackle of old glue, releasing perfume; closing with a solid thump.”
John Crowley, Little, Big
