Our city puts on a huge fireworks display about five blocks from our house. And we can stand on our front porch to watch it. Did I bother getting out of bed to see it? Like I already said... I’m the lame one. Instead of getting up and going out to the porch, like my wife did I just stayed in bed trying to go back to sleep. They were loud and went on surprisingly long.

Seriously?

When did I get to be so old that I can’t rouse myself out of bed to go to the porch? I didn’t even have to go to work today.

Anyway, we’re having a quiet day this New Year’s Day. No family, no kids, no friends. Just me and my wife. Our big adventure this first day of 2019 has been cleaning out our water softener. I know... exciting, right. And to make it a complete thrill we have to go to Home Depot to get some more salt.
