I’m really the lame one!

Our city puts on a huge fireworks display about five blocks from our house. And we can stand on our front porch to watch it. Did I bother getting out of bed to see it? Like I already said... I’m the lame one. Instead of getting up and going out to the porch, like my wife did I just stayed in bed trying to go back to sleep. They were loud and went on surprisingly long.

Seriously?

When did I get to be so old that I can’t rouse myself out of bed to go to the porch? I didn’t even have to go to work today.

Anyway, we’re having a quiet day this New Year’s Day. No family, no kids, no friends. Just me and my wife. Our big adventure this first day of 2019 has been cleaning out our water softener. I know... exciting, right. And to make it a complete thrill we have to go to Home Depot to get some more salt.

I hope you all had a great night and have a more exciting New Years than us. Enjoy those you love and don’t try to make a bunch of resolutions you have no hope of accomplishing. Keep it real and happy in 2019.

Happy Hollidays

We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and happy new year. For us... we had our simple tradition of going to a movie (Bumblebee) and hanging around the house.

I’m always s interested in what other people do this time of year. Ours was quiet. No drama, no fights, and no traveling. We live 2 minutes from the movie theater, so it’s an easy trip.

What’s up

I know I’ve been silent for a while, but I’ve been fine. Our lives got a little crazy for a while. There was an extortion attempt against my family which we didn’t give into. All I can say is when people think you have something they can take they will try. Needless to say their plan to get our money to buy a house they can’t afford didn’t work. The result was several indictments filed against our local police officers, and the immediate forced retirement of a 30 year veteran police lieutenant.

Imagine what life is like when the police turn out to be the bad guys.

I have, and will continue to remain silent about the details, but even though our books have always been self-published they will remain in an out of print status. Our extended family and several close friends have been victims of calculated attacks and harassment by the perpetrators leaving us no choice but to put our loved ones saftey above our own interests.

For those who enjoy our stories I deeply regret leaving the storyline unfinished. Just so everyone knows we are fine. Although we’ve had to make changes in our lives we continue to go on.

So My Book Got a Terrible Review. Now What?

2.0 out of 5 starsI found it quite boring. After spending nearly a year formulating, scheming, writing, re-writing, editing, and cleaning up your novel, this is what you get? Are you sure you’re talking about my book?Luckily, in this case the reviewer wasn’t referring to one my books. These words were specifically talking about a little known work by an obscure author who wrote a story about witchcraft. Had J.K. Rowling actually read this review posted by a reader about Harry Potter and the So...

Writing with Styles:
Simplify your life by beginning your manuscript with the end product in mind.

Is your final goal to have a nice Word document with a well developed story? If you said yes, then read no further. For most of us, that’s ridiculous. Nobody goes to Amazon or iTunes to download a Word doc, do they? The sad truth is that some of us—self-publishers—stop at the Word doc and upload it directly to CreateSpace, IngramSpark, Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), and other places with the hopes that it will become a breakout success.I’ve seen way too many books that haven’t been properly...
