https://english.ahram.org.eg/News/506...This is the latest book by Egyptian author Ahmed Naji, set in America where Naji has been living and following the trials and tribulations of an Egyptian immigrant struggling to find a place in New York City where he embarks on mysterious and supernatural adventures as he tries to climb the social ladder. With an unconventional plot, the novel tackles – with typical bold inventiveness – the issue of individual standing in a social context, and uses the trope of the happy ending to make sense of its theme.
Born in Mansoura in 1985, Naji has written Rogers (2007), Seven Lessons Learned from Ahmed Mekki (2009) and Loghz Al-Mahragan Al-Mashtour (The Mystery of the Broken Festival, 2017). More recently he wrote Wal Nomour Li Hograti (And Tigers to My Room, 2020) and Herz Mekamkem: Al-Qeraa wal Ketaba Dakhel Al-Segn (Rotten Evidence: Reading and Writing in Prison, 2020).
