Hello, everyone! I hope you're enjoying your summer. I promised I'd check in occasionally and let you know what's up.
Book 4 - the Misfit Caravan - proceeds slowly but happily. I wish I could write faster, but the demands of a day job are paramount. (Gods would I love to be a full-time writer....) The only thing I can promise is that I truly have enjoyed every chapter I've written so far. I can't remember ever having such a rewarding writing experience. I really, really think a lot of you might like this book, if you enjoyed the first three.
No idea when it'll be done. The best I can promise is that I'm writing consistently. I even took 2 weeks of vacation time this month, spread throughout August, to give myself 2 extra days of writing a week. And it's working.
In other news, the new Patreon site is going great. REALLY great. I didn't think I'd get such a quick or enthusiastic response. For my middle and highest tiers (what I call the Principalities and Arcana tiers), I'm even posting two chapters of a standalone novel called "SABER" every month. I wrote this years ago, back when I was finishing LAST SUN. I think it has the potential to get dusted off and edited.... I'll see what people think. It's not set in the Tarot Sequence world -- it's set in a world where the supernatural is underground. It's a story about an urban faery named Alex who is sold into an arranged, rural marriage with a shapeshifting man named Caylin, who can turn into a saber-tooth cat. I wrote this novel as a "sweet romance" -- about Alex and Caylin and their household coming together as an unexpected family,
I've also been hosting two Patreon Zooms a month: one for the Principalities and Arcana, and another specifically for the Arcana. That highest patronage tier is largely geared towards writing craft lessons. I'm hoping to actually start writing a short story about Brand and Rune with them, to show how I create my writing from start to finish. This will be part of a line of stories I'm calling "Early Adventures", and features Rune and Brand in the early days of Half House. Really looking forward to getting this story completed -- it's due to be published in an anthology later this year.

I've also migrated back to Twitter -- I did try other social media sites, but Twitter still remains the widest audience I have. (And, thankfully, my mentions are still filled with awesome, supportive, kind, amazing readers.) If you follow me, I do publish a TTS "snippet" every week, under the hashtag #tarotsequencefriday or #tarotsequenceweekend. Sometimes I drop big huge "trailer moments" for the next book; sometimes I drop hints for future trilogies. I try to have fun with it.
So, anyway.... I'm alive. I am writing. I can promise this much: I freaking well will start writing Book 5 as soon as Book 4 is done. I don't want you ever to wait 2 years again for the next installment. At least I can say I used the time well. I have the clearest idea yet what happens in the second trilogy, and even the final and third trilogy. The outline is getting me excited. Dragons and storms and shipwrecks ahead..... :)
Thank you all for the wonderful reviews and support. I heart you all so much.
