You probably were asked this question already, at some point in time, but what inspired you to write "The Five Stages of Andrew Brawley"? It is one of my favorite books and I am planning on rereading it this summer.

It was a lot of things. Primarily a combination of a scene from a medical TV show, the time I spent training as an EMT, the song Caves by Jack's Mannequin, and the graphic novels I was reading at the time (mostly Kick-Ass and Locke & Key).

from today on, my life is parted between before reading Andrew Brawley and after. I love your writing so much. It's so dark. And so real. Have you dealt with a lost one around the time writing it? I lost my father two years ago and I still write about it in my books (which is why they are dark too and about death... people don't ever understand...)
