Corin has a Mind Mark, which is the best mark for manipulating the mana within his own body.
This has a few major advantages.
First, the main feature of mind marks is the ability to cast spells on yourself virtually instantly without any sort of incantation or physical gestures. This is most obvious when Corin activates his attunement to see auras - he doesn't have to say anything aloud or wave a hand at anyone or anything to do that, whereas other attunement types generally do.
He doesn't do a lot of casting spells in the traditional sense in the first book, so you don't see a lot of this happening yet. As he learns more magic, this feature will be more relevant.
Second, it makes it quicker and easier for him to convert the mana inside his body into the other types he can use.
Third, it makes him better at generally reshaping and manipulating his mana. In the first book, we only see him use this to make crystals, and he's just learning it - but that's the foundation for a much larger part of his style of magic.
It's important to note that these are all efficiency increases. Other attunement locations *can* allow you to do the same things, but it requires more training and effort, and it can also put more strain on the body. Similarly, Corin could learn to use his attunement in the ways that other attunement locations specialize in, but it would be less efficient.
For example, he could learn to use spell incantations (like a Lung Marked) to make his spells stronger, but it would be inefficient, because he'd have to learn how to move his mana through his lungs and then project that mana back outward.
You'll get to see him taking advantage of his mark location a bit more in the second book.
Hope this helps! (hide spoiler)]
