just finished House of Hawthorne, which has been sitting on my shelf --until this quarantine. I'm now sad not to have read it years ago when you signed it for me! Anyway-- are all the letters included in the book your own invention, or were some of them based on existing letters? Thank you for this insightful glimpse into a life I've been curious about since I saw those window scratches at Old Manse in Concord.
